Silent Night Homestay

The location is pretty good, close to the train station and right by a bus stop. It was surprisingly quiet at night in the first-floor rooms, though there's no sound insulation and you can hear everything next door. The family running the place are really nice and trying their best, but the property itself needs a lot of improvement, starting with a good wash. The WiFi was so bad it might as well not have been there. I'd give the staff 10 out of 10, and the place 4.

The owner was great, friendly and helpful, and breakfast was large, tasty, affordable, but not included. The location was great too. Budget rooms are budget quality, though, and mine was partly broken. The door's glass pane had been smashed and covered with cardboard, which didn't feel secure. Even locked, the door could be pushed open. There was a lockable drawer for valuables, which was good. The shared bathroom was pretty average, with no mosquito proofing, and the water was lukewarm despite being described as hot. From talking with other guests, it sounded like the more expensive rooms were better.

The owner was very friendly and welcoming, and Ella is small enough that the location wasn't bad. The room and bathroom were as described, but both were very humid and could have been cleaner. The WiFi barely worked, and they overcharged us at checkout.

The name Silent Night gives a slightly misleading impression, since this homestay is right beside Ella's main road. Still, it's a nice, clean, comfortable place to stay. The owner is a helpful, polite, and honest man.
