Sunnyside Holiday Bungalow

Cynthia and her son were caring, courteous, and very helpful throughout our stay at Sunnyside. The room was clean and nicely presented, and we really enjoyed the authentic Sri Lankan food. Cynthia’s son also guided us on a hike to the nine arch bridge and took us shopping on Ella’s main street. Thanks to the Sunnyside team for a wonderful time. We hope to return in the future.

Cynthia knows the area well and was always happy to chat about places to visit and things to see. She also made sure breakfast was generous. We had Sri Lankan breakfast each day, with fruit juice, fresh fruit, roti, side dishes, jam, butter, and tea or coffee, all served with care. The property has lovely gardens and is spacious, clean, and pleasant. It’s at most a five-minute walk from the town center, close enough for convenience but far enough away to avoid the noise. When we arrived, Cynthia offered us tea or coffee and was attentive from the start. She’s a genuinely lovely host who cares about her guests and is happy to help with anything. I’d gladly stay at this homestay again if I return.

The breakfast was huge and delicious, and the stay was surprisingly affordable for the quality. The bungalow is peaceful, yet conveniently right in the heart of Ella, making it a good base for exploring. I found this place underrated and think it deserves more attention. The host and staff made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. The host was especially lovely, sharing her life story and taking the time to connect with us. It made the stay feel personal and special. Sunny Side Ella Bungalow exceeded my expectations, and I can’t wait to return.
