We kept having dinner there because the food was absolutely fantastic. The hostel sits a little higher up, outside the centre, which was just what we wanted. It was quiet and peaceful, with a cozy, familiar feel, and the surroundings were idyllic. From the very first moment, the staff made us feel welcome and at home. Their kindness changed what hospitality means to me. It’s a truly beautiful hostel with a breathtaking view, and we found it so relaxing.

You can eat here and spend the day looking at the pretty views without needing to leave. The owners were lovely, and there’s a really good trail run through the yea plantations starting from the house. Probably one of the nicest, most relaxed hostels I’ve stayed at. Highly recommend a visit!

We loved the breakfast in the beautiful yard, it felt like being in paradise. The owner and staff were super friendly and kind, and helped us see most of the highlights in Ella. Our room was clean and really comfortable. It’s my favourite place to stay in Sri Lanka, and the prices seemed cheap for what you get. Thank you so much, guys!

The owner cooks really well, so there’s no need to go hunting for a restaurant. The local dishes are carefully made with good ingredients and cost very reasonable prices. It’s a beautiful place just outside busy Ella, ideal for chilling out and relaxing, and maybe catching a sunset.

We spent three nights at the 1964 hostel and enjoyed every moment. It’s a little way from Ella, but that’s what makes it so peaceful and quiet. There’s a bus stop very close by, so the distance wasn’t a problem for us. The room was comfortable, the view was amazing, and there was a nice spot to sit outside.
