The garden and swimming pool are a real plus. It's right in town, yet has a nice garden, and restaurants are within walking distance. The hotel is well placed along our route, and the rooms are good.

The price seemed fair, but they charged an extra Rs. 1000 for the water bottle and tea packets left in the room, even though those seemed like part of the service.

The pool, TV and air conditioning initially made the price seem reasonable, but the resort needs maintenance and more enthusiastic staff. BB was listed as included, yet nobody even offered us tea. We were charged separately for the water bottles too.

Tilly, the host at Pavana, made sure we were comfortable and welcomed us with fresh fruit juice. He also had plenty of suggestions for things to do in Sri Lanka. The resort has good budget rooms, reliable wifi and a pool. Its safari company for Udawalawe national park came across as very professional and has apparently been running for more than 20 years. We'd highly recommend staying here.

They included a really good vegan breakfast, and the staff were friendly. They speak Tamil as well. For our safari to Udawalawe, they arranged a very experienced driver and guide. With 29 years of experience, he knew where to look and even spotted a chamaeleon in the bushes and eagles in distant trees.
