The Deer Park

The peaceful setting has potential, but the stay didn’t feel worth the price, and there are several things that need improvement. The food was average rather than excellent, and the weak mobile signal and practically unusable WiFi made it hard to stay connected. At checkout, we found incorrect charges on the bill, so check it carefully. Privacy was a real concern. People staying upstairs could look straight into our bathroom from their balcony. We could also hear noise from other rooms clearly, which made it hard to relax, and they could probably hear us as well. Room service was poor, and basic items were missing: no toiletries or toothbrush, and just one towel for a double room. The welcome was poor from the start, and we felt mostly ignored, as if foreign guests mattered much more than local ones. There was no welcome drink, and the glass we were given at lunch smelled bad, so we had to ask for it to be cleaned again. That made for a bad first impression.

The buffet had lots of variety, and the friendly chefs were happy to prepare some dishes when asked. I had a great time and would love to visit again. It’s easy to unwind here, with the sauna and jacuzzi included and looking out over the Giritale tank. The rooms are cozy and have plenty of amenities. Suite rooms seem well suited to larger groups. There’s lots of space between the rooms and other buildings, with paths, ponds, and statues all around the grounds.

There are big forest paths and a lavish pool surrounded by nature, so the place feels closely connected to its natural setting. When you arrive, you’re greeted by a sweeping view over the girithale lake. Our room was spacious and exceptionally clean and tidy. We had a superb stay at the Deer Park Hotel.

The lake view rooms are beside a very busy road, with honking and traffic making it hard to relax both outside and in the room. It woke us up in the morning, too. The restaurant food looked excellent but didn’t taste good. The pool was nice, though a little dirty, and the beds were very comfortable. WiFi only worked in the lobby, not in the rooms. That was disappointing on evenings when we wanted to stay in and relax, since we couldn’t stream movies or other media. The advertised hot tub jacuzzi didn’t work: the water stayed cold, and staff said it only stays at room temperature when we asked about turning on the heater. The property is beautiful and surrounded by nature. Our room was very clean, and the staff provided excellent service.
