Sethum Villa - Unawatuna

The area was calm and peaceful, and the villa was beautiful, clean, and well maintained. Comfortable rooms and a great atmosphere made it a lovely place to relax. It’s only 100m from the beach and close to supermarkets, which was very convenient. We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend it for a relaxing getaway.

The location was perfect, about a 6 minute drive from Thalpe beach and just a minute's walk from the bus and train stops. But for what we paid, I expected more. Only three of the five rooms had working AC, and we had to sort that out right away because the upstairs fan didn’t work. There were no fans downstairs, so we ended up staying in our rooms instead of spending time together communally. They did bring a small fan when we asked. The lights were very dim, and half the outlets and switches around the house didn’t work. They gave us one single sheet for a queen sized bed, not enough for two people. The rooms and bathrooms were relatively clean. I’d strongly recommend discussing all your needs and expectations before your visit.

A clean, nice villa for a group of friends, with five AC rooms, each with its own bathroom. The pool was cleaned daily, and the hosts were helpful and made a nice breakfast every morning. Shops are very close, and it’s only 2-3 minutes to the beach.

Great value for the money. It’s a huge three bedroom villa with an enormous living room, near a beautiful beach, shops, and restaurants. Bus and railway stations are just a few meters away, and there’s private parking on site. The kitchen is a little below the standard of the rest, but more than sufficient. Passing trains are noisy only during the day, when it’s tolerable and you’re more likely to be out enjoying one of the marvelous nearby beaches. The first train comes at 5.30 A.M. The place is clean and very recent, with good new bathrooms. Use mosquito nets and spend a few rupees on a couple of mosquito repellent spirals every day, as elsewhere in Sri Lanka.
