The Horizon Hill Top Villa

The fireflies were lovely to watch, and there were lots of them. The pool was a nice way to cool off at this beautiful, quiet, relaxing place. The mosquitoes get brutal if you're sitting outside in the afternoon, so bring something to spray on or ask at the desk, they have some there too.

We booked the whole property for our group of 20, though individual rooms can also be reserved with private entrances if needed. The hillside setting, with its many stairs and raised paths, gives the place a nice scenic feel. Our rooms were very clean, well kept, and comfortable, with plenty of space, large cozy beds, and clean bathrooms. The Sri Lankan breakfast was flavorful and really good, with bread, hoppers, string hoppers, and different curries. A pleasant, comfortable stay and worth the money.

The staff were very nice, smiled a lot, and tried to help us, but for that price I expected something outstanding. The top apartment's view is beautiful, with forest in front, animals living around, and sunrise if you're up around 6:00 am. It has two beds, a small kitchen, and a toilet. The main apartment costs around $140 per night through booking, plus taxes, which feels unbelievably high. The owner has a newly built resort about a ten-minute walk from the villa, with prices around $85 plus taxes. I tried calling a few times to book directly, since booking sites take mostly 30 percent, but nobody answered. I stayed anyway, though I won't return for that money. I can easily find much better accommodation near the villa.

The food was good, and the staff were really kind and helpful. We had a wonderful stay, with special thanks to Nimesh. Amazing place, I'd recommend it to anyone!
