What soured our time here was the way we were treated. We’d booked the motorbike and bought Ayurvedic products on our first day. When a man offered massage packages and promised 20% off the larger one, we called the next day to book and checked the discount again. He said yes, but when we arrived, another man refused to apply it, saying the package was already discounted. We left. When we returned the bike two days later, they took about 15 minutes to inspect it, then claimed it was damaged. We hadn’t fallen, and I’ve ridden every day for four years. They backed off after I showed them the video I’d taken when we rented it. I wouldn’t trust this place. Sri Lankan people have been warm and welcoming to us everywhere else, but this experience was the exception.

The table was just leather, not a proper massage table, and it was coated in oil. There weren’t enough disposable towels to cover it, so everything stayed oily and guests’ feet ended up in a mess. The massage itself was disgusting, and it cost the same as elsewhere. They didn’t seem to know much about muscles. The oil was dark green, kept in odd plastic bottles, and smelled bad. They couldn’t say what kind it was. Just awful.

You can get massages and Ayurveda treatments here, and the location is handy for the beach and restaurants. There’s a railway line right behind the hotel, though. The rooms are small but practical, with a fan and air conditioning, and the courtyard feels cozy, if a bit warm.

The smell of incense was awful, and they had sticks burning all over the place. There weren’t any towels either, and the service was bad. I didn’t stay, just left straight away.
