The Den Guest House

We had the seafood platter for dinner, and it was delicious and worth the price. The staff were very friendly, too. The beach is right there. Step out of the room and you’re on the sand within a few steps, with a view of the beach and ocean from the bed. It was lovely to wake up to that. There was no trash bin in the room, which seemed like a basic thing to have, and no shower gel either.

There are just three rooms here, and two have beach views and direct access to the beach. The room view was beautiful and the hotel staff served us quickly. Cleanliness had a few shortcomings, but given the location and the view, those were forgivable.

I spent a lot of time just looking out at the sea, both from my room and from the restaurant table. The view is beautiful and calming, and I’ve rarely slept so close to the sea. The food was amazing, the staff professional, and the rooms were clean, spacious and worth the price. This place is a gem in Hikkaduwa. It has so much going for it, especially the view, food and location, and I’d love to come back. I won’t forget how beautiful it was. Thank you.

The property is right on the beach, and we could enjoy the sea view from the porch at breakfast. The breakfast itself was delicious. It’s about a 15-minute walk from the train station, with a large supermarket nearby that also sells plenty of inexpensive souvenirs and spices. We stayed three nights, from 9 to 12 May 2023, and had a very good time. The room and bathroom were both spacious and clean. The shower stream went outside the tub and made a bit of a mess, but that didn’t bother us.
