We stayed two nights and three days. The rooms were spacious and reasonably well kept, and the grounds have two pools and a private beach. Those were the only positives. Service was awful, from reception to the restaurant. My niece cut her fingers and toes on rough edges in the baby pool. When we reported it, reception just said, “if you want you can write a review on TripAdvisor”. The staff never seemed pleased or welcoming to guests. We were on half board and expected a decent breakfast and dinner, but the buffet was exactly the same both days. The food was bland and unappealing. Dinner was slightly better but still disappointing. At 9 p.m. the dishes were empty, and we waited over 30 minutes for refills. The starter and salad selection was extremely poor, and the dessert options were pathetic, with no ice cream. I booked because of the attractive off-season rates, but after this underwhelming, below-mediocre stay, I feel I overpaid. I’ll never come back.

We especially enjoyed the infinity pool overlooking the sea and the Ayurvedic spa, which was wonderfully relaxing. The beachfront setting at Temple Tree Resort & Spa gives you beautiful ocean views from the balcony and easy access to Induruwa Beach. Our room was clean and spacious, and the staff were very friendly and ready to help with a smile. A serene, peaceful getaway in Sri Lanka, highly recommended.

The food needs serious work: there aren’t many choices, and a few dishes weren’t cooked or seasoned properly. Apart from that, it’s a very enjoyable, good-value hotel. It isn’t fancy, but the rooms, service, and location are very good, and it’s a nice choice for a family holiday. I booked directly by email, which was straightforward, and the rates were excellent. There’s a spa, easy beach access, and two pools, one spa pool whose jets weren’t working, plus a large general pool.

We spent 10 days at Temple Tree in October 2025 and left unhappy. We wouldn’t recommend it or return. The hotel staff were friendly and tried their best, especially in the restaurant and bar. Reception, though, stuck rigidly to its approach and was kind of rude. With management like this, there’s only so much the staff can do. We arrived at 7 a.m. after about 15 hours of travel from Germany. After check-in, we were told the room wouldn’t be ready until 2 p.m., a seven-hour wait. I accepted that, though it wasn’t ideal, and they gave us a cup of coffee each. The hotel seemed almost empty, with only a few guests around the property. I got the feeling rooms were available but we weren’t given one because “our package has not started yet”. When breakfast began, I asked if we could leave our luggage and eat. The front desk said we were not allowed because our all-inclusive package also began at 2 p.m. The woman smiled and said we’d be charged extra if we went ahead. We couldn’t get any drinks either, apart from the coffee. After 15 hours on the road, being refused food, drinks, and service was horrible hospitality. I’ve travelled a lot and never experienced anything like it. It was the same when we left. We had to check out of the room by noon, but our airport transport was at 3 p.m. From 12 to 3 p.m., we were denied drinks and lunch because our package ended at noon. This was horrible hospitality and service, horrendous management, and a slap in the face to paying guests. Our third-floor room was okay, but that was about it. The bottled water smelled of chlorine, so we didn’t use it and boiled tap water ourselves. The power cut out in the room several times a day, then came back after one or two minutes. At 2 a.m. one night, some loud alarm woke us up. It took 20 minutes for someone to turn it off. I don’t think it was a fire alarm, maybe hotel security. Room service was skipped twice, with no do-not-disturb sign out and no explanation. The food was good, but repetitive after two or three days. Once again, we won’t recommend the hotel or visit again.

We found Temple Tree Resort & Spa a wonderful place to unwind and relax. It’s right on the beach, with lovely sea views from every room, and the staff were courteous, welcoming, and accommodating. Highly recommended!
