Subhas Hotel

The staff are the reason I'd come back. They're excellent and tried to accommodate what I needed, within reason. I've stayed in nearly all the other hotels, including Jetwing, but from now on Subhas Hotel is the only place I'll stay. The food is excellent too, even if there's not a lot of variety. And the location is hard to beat, right in the heart of Jaffna, with fast food, a hospital, fashion stores like No Limit and Nadiyas, and Cargills all within walking distance. This was my first time here. If I remember the history right, it was Jaffna's first hotel, dating back to 1970. The buildings and furnishings show their age, but the staff are doing their best to keep everything clean.

The owner was approachable and happy to chat with us and the other guests, which helped give the place a homely feel. We were greeted warmly by the women at the front desk, and Sinhala music was playing when we came in. That small touch made us feel welcome right away. We picked Hotel Subash because of its history. It has been in the heart of Jaffna for decades, was occupied by the Sri Lankan Army during the war, and was returned to its owners after the conflict ended. The same family lovingly runs it today, with family members taking turns to be there. The hotel is old but well maintained, with the essential amenities you'd expect. It's very conveniently placed near the railway station, central Jaffna market and main bus stand. Our stay was short but enjoyable, and we appreciated the hospitality. I'd happily suggest Hotel Subash to anyone visiting Jaffna for its warmth, history and genuine hospitality.

The food is what keeps me booking here. It's absolutely delicious, packed with authentic Tamil flavors, and well worth a visit if you want to experience real Tamil cuisine. I've stayed at this hotel for most of my office trips, and it's been consistently excellent. The rooms are very clean and maintenance is well managed.

The hotel is right in the middle of town, so it's quick and easy to get around to places nearby. Our room and washroom were kept very clean, and the staff were helpful and friendly. We were very happy with our stay at hotel Subhas, and would recommend it to anyone. We'd visit often.
