Wind Blend Kite Resort

I visited Wind Blend Kite Resort, Kalpitiya last week with colleagues from Colombo, and it was a very disappointing stay. The customer service was extremely poor. It felt obvious that local guests weren't treated as well and that the resort mainly caters to foreigners. If locals are welcome, the service should be equal. The food was tasteless and very poor quality, nowhere near worth the price. There were problems with the water, the place felt uncomfortable and poorly maintained, and there was a bad smell around the property. It also looked nothing like the photos on Google, which I found very misleading. We wouldn't recommend it. It was a waste of time and money.

The Olu room was lovely, especially the bathroom, and the staff welcomed us so warmly. I still think about the peaceful moments there, the tasty seafood, and watching the dolphins 🐬. Thanks for the Christmas gift. It was such a beautiful, memorable stay, and I hope to go back soon.

The private lagoon and pool gave us lovely places to unwind, and there were activities like kite surfing and yoga too. Our spacious, eco-friendly cabanas had verandahs and open-air baths, which I especially enjoyed. They were ready before we arrived, and the staff stayed attentive and friendly throughout. We were welcomed by Sudath, the owner, when we arrived in the afternoon. Lunch came soon after and was delicious, with generous portions and more available when we asked. Set among coconut trees, Wind Blend Kite Resort felt peaceful and far from the usual bustle. We had a wonderful short holiday there, thanks to Sudath and his team.

The host was friendly and understanding. But smoke from fires lit by the neighbors filled the room each morning, and the heavy smoke woke me at night too. That was especially difficult because I have asthma.
