Amaara Sky Hotel

The food was excellent and tailored to what we liked, and the staff made sure every detail was taken care of. Priyanka and Sisira deserve a special mention for their hospitality. We had a lovely weekend at Amaara, a charming boutique hotel in a beautiful setting. Mr. and Mrs. Perera

Our room was large, clean, and had a lovely view from the hillside, though the paintwork was shabby and the furnishings felt dated. The staff at breakfast were pleasant, but the pastries were stale; breakfast itself was adequate. Dinner was disappointing, cooked by our teenage waiter, and there’s no drinks licence, so you can’t order alcohol with a meal. We’d booked two nights through our agent. I can’t recommend the hotel, and I don’t recognize it from some of the positive reviews. It feels more like a three-star place than a four-star one. The main concern was that the hotel is locked up at 9pm and staff leave. During the night there were two power cuts, and we had to call the manager on his mobile to get them sorted. He did help, but it wasn’t reassuring that no one was at the hotel to assist in an emergency. It was a disappointing stay, and I’m sure there are better options.

Our New Year’s Eve at the hotel was made memorable by a lovely surprise in the room: flowers and a “Happy Wedded Life” decoration on the bed. It felt thoughtful and creative. The room was spotless, comfortable, and nicely arranged, with peaceful lighting and stylish decor. From the receptionist to the rest of the team, everyone was friendly, polite, and attentive from the moment we arrived. The hotel felt warm, inviting, and well organized, and it was clear the staff cared about their work. We’re grateful for the kindness and hospitality that made our December 31 stay so special. Highly recommended!

The room was spacious and clean, with a huge balcony and a great view that included Dalada Maligawa. My wife and I spent one night on FB and had an excellent stay. The staff were friendly and supportive. We’re already planning another visit.
