Dinner was a highlight, with delicious, nicely presented dishes served in a quiet, relaxed atmosphere. The surroundings were peaceful, and we left feeling refreshed and happy, already planning another visit. Our room was spacious, spotless, and well designed, with a large terrace and beautiful scenery. Everything worked properly, including the lights and hot water, and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel felt welcoming from arrival, with calm lighting, a clean lobby, and friendly staff. It’s a charming place for couples or anyone who enjoys nature and a serene setting.

I especially enjoyed dinner: the paratha with chicken curry and coconut sambol was delicious, full of flavor, and nicely prepared. The à la carte menu covers Sri Lankan, Chinese, Indian, and European food, and the coffee list includes Cappuccino, Latte, Macchiato, and more. The staff were friendly and professional, and their attentive hospitality made the stay more enjoyable. The hotel has a distinctive design and is surrounded by a reservoir on three sides. Across the water, the mist-covered mountains make a beautiful, peaceful view. Rooms have a minibar, tea and coffee facilities, air-conditioning, cable TV, bath amenities, and a bathtub. Cleanliness was kept to a high standard. There are single-day and multi-day activity plans. The playground in front of the hotel looks especially lovely at sunset. Nearby options include ancient temples, waterfalls, bathing in the Hulu River, hiking in the Knuckles Mountains, Wewa Thanna Reservoir, and Meemure village. This is the most beautiful place I’ve seen in the Kandy District, and I recommend it as a destination not to miss.

After a day out, it’s lovely to return to the peaceful hotel, have a meal, and watch the sunset over the hills. Castle Palace Hotel feels like a warm place to connect with nature and culture, with a balance of quiet and activity and Sri Lankan warmth. Families can make use of the spacious playground in front. The setting by Victoria lake in Kandy is beautiful, among hills, misty mountains, greenery, and shimmering water. It’s a calm, cool base for exploring the region. Nearby activities include hiking the Knuckles Mountain Range, visiting the historical cave temple, bathing in the Hulu River, cycling village paths, finding waterfalls, and taking the Mini World’s End tour for panoramic views. For a slower day, there are fishing experiences at the nearby lake, visits to Victoria Dam, and Wawatenna Lake tours. It suits adventurers, nature lovers, and families looking for a relaxing stay.

The setting by the lake is a hidden gem, and you can swim there if you don’t mind some muddy ground. The road to the hotel is a little tricky, though manageable with a tuk-tuk if you’re driving yourself. It’s an hour from Kandy, so we spent two nights and took a day trip to the Botanical Garden and a tea factory. We had dinner on arrival, freshly made and very tasty, though a bit pricier than local places. Vimiledhrme was attentive, thoughtful, and curious. It’s a cosy place, with very comfortable beds, lovely rooms with balconies, and lots of animals around. If you want a quiet stay with only nature sounds, this is a great fit.
