I was visiting Sri Lanka from Japan, and the staff were so warm and kind. They made us feel welcome, and breakfast service was wonderful. The view from our room was beautiful too. I’ll never forget realizing on the train to Ella that I’d left my favorite hoodie at the hotel. I’d nearly given up on getting it back, but someone from the staff brought it all the way to the platform. I felt bad for the trouble, but was incredibly grateful. Thank you for being so kind. This is an amazing hotel, and I’d love to come back!

The hotel is in a beautiful location, but there was little else we liked during our one-night stay. Staff were friendly, though that didn’t help much. There was no food suitable for kids, dinner choices were absent, and breakfast was the worst: they served leftover noodles and dal from the previous night’s dinner. Vegetarians should absolutely avoid this place. Worse, I got what looked like bed bug bites on my hand, and it really panicked me. When I told the manager, he just asked whether I’d opened the balcony. We hadn’t, since we arrived late in the evening and left the next morning. The stay was a complete turnoff for my family and me.

It’s an easy 10-minute walk down to the temple and city centre, and the balcony has a good view. The staff are friendly, and the rooms are simple but clean. The street dogs are noisy at night.

The lake views from the balconies were decent, and the hotel is about a 10-minute walk from the lake and train station, with lots of places to eat nearby. It’s a basic, no-frills option that’s fair for the price. The rooms feel a bit worn, and getting to them feels like entering a basement.
