The staff made us feel very welcome, and the hotel was well maintained. Breakfast was enjoyable, too. There’s a large road in front, so keep that in mind if noise bothers you. There was a small mismatch between our room and the booking when we arrived. We’d booked through American Express Travel, which used Expedia as a third-party provider. The hotel handled the mix-up kindly and professionally, and offered us an upgrade for the stay, which we really appreciated.

We especially liked the pasta, though the food was a little pricey and otherwise quite fine. The setting was lovely, with everything arranged nicely indoors and outside. Sitting by the lake made the evening feel cool and added to the atmosphere.

I only wish we’d booked more than one night. The hotel felt quaint, and the staff gave us such a warm welcome. We got a free upgrade to a large private balcony overlooking the lake, though our itinerary meant we couldn’t make much use of it. Breakfast was great, with good food and friendly, excellent service. The food at dinner was stunning, too. Thilina deserves a special mention for arranging a table for my wife and me on the front lawn and taking such good care of us. Thanks to him and the rest of the staff. It’s ideally placed for Kandy lake, the Big Buddha and the Temple of the Tooth. The hotel is on a main road, which might bother some people, but it didn’t affect my wife and me.

All the staff were excellent, especially Thilina in the restaurant. We had a comfortable, airy deluxe room that was well appointed, and the breakfast had an amazing range of choices. We also ate dinner at the restaurant one night and found it excellent and reasonably priced. We spent two nights at this beautiful boutique hotel by Kandy lake. It would be a great choice for a stay in Kandy.
