Breakfast on the veranda beside my room was such a relaxing highlight. We were upgraded to a lovely suite looking over the gardens and pool, since the hotel was quiet. The old colonial-style house is beautiful, and coming through the gates felt like leaving Kandy’s busy streets for a peaceful hideaway. The staff were wonderful and the food was fantastic. I did miss having tea-making facilities in the room. The grounds are quiet, but the surrounding area can be noisy, with dogs barking and calls to prayer from a nearby mosque in the evening and at 5am, so earplugs are a good idea.

We were really well looked after, and Pradeep went out of his way to make our stay feel just right. The food was brilliant too. We had a great couple of days in a beautiful, peaceful spot, with Kandy still easy to reach by car.

Samir, our server and room keeper, was attentive and warmly welcoming, and really added something to our visit. We spent two nights at The Kandy House and had a fantastic time. The service, food, and drinks were all excellent.

The owner, whose family has had the house for several generations, was nearby and told me about its history and the family. I loved the colonial character of the place, and the rooms are beautifully decorated. The staff did everything they could to make me feel looked after, and the food was excellent, with a very well-trained chef. The jungle pool looked incredible, and I wish I’d had time to enjoy it. The only drawback for my short visit was getting there: the drive was a little difficult and farther than I expected. That may be on me for not planning better, but I can only speak to my own experience. If I came again, I’d stay two days.

There’s a lovely mix of heritage and modern comfort in this boutique hotel, set in a well-preserved 19th-century manor house. I liked the choice of food at the veranda restaurant, with Western favorites alongside local dishes, and guests can also relax at the Butterfly Bar. It feels like a peaceful spot in Kandy, with warm hospitality and an elegant, historic atmosphere. Couples, solo travelers, or anyone after that sort of stay could enjoy it.
