UDF City Hotel Kandy

UDF has grown from a seafood wholesaler and retailer into supermarkets, hotels, and tourism. It’s an emerging business in the tourism and hotel industry. This newly opened guest house is in Kandy, opposite the Devon Hotel.

The rooms are small but clean, and the service is kind and pleasant. Breakfasts were generous, with seasonal fruit and a choice of English or Sri Lankan food. The hotel is beside a busy road, though there are nice hill views and tuktuks are easy to find within a minute. WiFi can be unreliable, but when it works, it’s quite fast.

The location was so convenient that we walked to the city centre and never felt we needed a TukTuk. The hotel was lovely and affordable, with clean, comfortable rooms, AC, a fan, hot shower water, a TV, and fast WiFi. The staff really cared and went out of their way to make our time in Kandy special. The owner took us to an elephant stable, where we got to feed and bathe the elephants, then showed us the local temples and market. Later, a staff member took us to the famous Kandy dance performance, which was fantastic. When we asked about a cooking class, they quickly arranged a private Sri Lankan cooking experience at the hotel. It was a memorable way to learn about the local food. The owner also helped with our train tickets and came with us to the station to make sure everything went smoothly. Amazing stay, 10/10. We’d happily return!
