Airport Layover B&B

A decent enough place if you need to get to the airport. Our first room was missing a few window shields and the fan wasn’t working very well, but the kind staff moved us to a better equipped room. Breakfast was good, though the transport service is a bit expensive.

At 1am, after our Uber driver had taken us to the wrong place, we called the B&B and spoke to the owner. He gave the driver the right directions, but when we arrived he said he had no booking for us and was full. He didn’t leave us stuck, though. He got on the phone and found us a lovely place around the corner at another guest house, then asked us to come back in the morning for breakfast. I showed him the E-recipet proving I’d paid for it, but he checked his phone and saw our booking wasn’t listed. He said he’d find out what had happened and that we didn’t need to pay anything more. He went above and beyond for me and my husband, my knight in shining armor that night. His family were lovely in the morning, and he also arranged a taxi to the train station. We’d booked through trip.com, and had tried Uber and pick me at the airport, but they kept cancelling. We eventually walked out of the airport and got picked up at the roadside. He did everything he could, and I’d recommend him 100%.

I regret booking here and would never return. I had a confirmed reservation, but on arrival staff casually told me my room had been given to other guests, with no warning or explanation. Because of this, I had to sleep on the balcony. It was cold, uncomfortable, unsafe, and humiliating. There was no proper apology, compensation, or acceptance of responsibility. They simply didn’t care. This showed gross mismanagement and a complete lack of respect for paying guests. If you care about your safety, comfort, and peace of mind, stay far away. They can’t be trusted to honor bookings and clearly don’t care about their clients.

Shanti was lovely, and we’d stay again. It’s a simple, basic but clean and tidy homestay, suited to the price and handy for a layover or pre-flight night. The rooms are upstairs via a separate staircase, with the family downstairs, and there’s a nice rooftop terrace to sit on. It’s a 12-minute drive to the airport, though tricky to find: Google Maps sent us to the parallel street for the entrance. Shanti booked us a tuk tuk the night before our early flight, and it cost $6 US.
