Arana by Forest Trails

We’ve returned to Arana Yala several times since March 2021, and the staff’s hospitality is a big reason. They consistently go out of their way to make us comfortable, and I want to thank the team for looking after us over all these months. The rooms are spacious, clean, and just right for our family. The chef is very experienced and has lots to offer. We usually head out for a morning safari and another in the evening, spending the middle of the day enjoying Arana Yala’s calm, relaxing atmosphere. It’s conveniently located, about a 10-15 minute drive from the Yala entrance. We’ve loved every visit and recommend it to anyone wanting to relax and explore the area.

The rooms are new, pleasant, and comfortable, but we didn’t feel especially welcome. Our driver didn’t have a room. When we asked, the manager said we should have requested one in the comments section. The pool looked lovely, though we never got to use it. Breakfast was fine, just average. I’d rate this as three-star accommodation.

My favorite part was probably the food. We had authentic, delicious Sri Lankan dishes at every meal. The rooms were comfortable and had all the amenities we could need, and the lovely staff welcomed us with fresh coconut and a Sri Lankan band. We had an amazing stay at Arana Yala.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. We also explored nearby and came across several private beaches with stunning views. Arana is a beautiful, very comfortable hotel, around 10 minutes from the park, which worked out conveniently. We booked our vehicle and driver through Arana and saw a bear, a leopard, and a tusker on the same ride. I’d definitely visit again!
