Gallene Gala Nature Resort

The peaceful, nature-filled setting made this a lovely family visit. We stayed at Cave N Falls Nature Resort – Kithulgala and found the staff friendly and attentive, with excellent service. I'd happily recommend it for a relaxing break in Kithulgala.

It was a peaceful place and the location itself was good, but getting there was difficult. There was no WiFi or mobile signal. I found the rent very expensive, and the food charges were high too. They said they'd cook meat if we supplied a kilo and charged 800 Sri Lankan rupees, but when the cooked food came, the portion didn't match what we'd given them. It seemed like 200 or 300 grams of meat was missing. For that price, I think there are plenty of better places nearby with good meal packages. Never again. From Israel 🇮🇱

The setting was lovely, with a nearby waterfall and natural pool, and plenty of wildlife. But the stay itself was a disaster, so we left straight away and went elsewhere. The rooms didn't seem to be cleaned regularly, and thick moss on the paths to the cottages made me slip and fall. The bedsheets smelled of damp, which seemed to be a recurring issue with the riverside cottages. The railings facing the river weren't securely fastened and looked liable to break if someone leaned on them. The door locks were barely there, just a thin piece of wire and an old padlock. Getting to the resort is also difficult without a 4x4. The unpaved track is muddy, uneven, and full of sharp rocks, so if you're coming by car, I'd suggest calling the hotel about transport. We had booked the Hotel/Cabana for two nights starting 11th April 2025, and they had said our dog was welcome. After leaving, we asked the owner to return the advance we'd paid, but no refund came. When we tried to explain the problems, the owner avoided our calls. It felt like guests who leave because of the conditions are being scammed out of their advance. A nice location ruined by poor management.

A peaceful spot tucked into nature, and the camping-style rooms are a nice way to be close to it. The cool air meant we didn't need air conditioning, and the winding drive opened up some breathtaking hidden views. The food was delicious, and there's even a free fish therapy session. Gallena Gala Nature Resort in Sri Lanka really felt like a hidden gem.
