For the rates they charge, it was an average stay. The biggest problem was being asked to pay cash, with no other payment option at all. A hotel stay costs a considerable amount, and carrying that much cash is not workable, especially for a foreigner without a local account. I strongly suggest the owner not pass this problem on to customers.

We had a few lovely nights at Italian Guest in Nilaveli. The rooms were roomy and comfortable, with air-conditioning and a quiet view of the garden and pool. The clean outdoor pool is surrounded by greenery, a nice place for an early swim or an evening dip. It’s good value for money and a great base to explore Nilaveli and the coast. The beach is a short walk away, and the spot is peaceful while still near local restaurants and amenities. The on-site restaurant served tasty food, especially the local dishes, and the staff were welcoming, friendly, and helpful throughout.

The room and bed were clean, and two staff members were kind and helpful: the receptionist and another gentleman. Their service was appreciated, but they were the only bright spots in a very disappointing stay. On arrival, the welcome was poor. The manager, Mr. Ranjan, came across as extremely unprofessional and didn’t know how to greet or assist guests. Housekeeping fell short too. The water heater didn’t work, and at one point there was no water at all in the washroom. The pool area felt unsafe and unhygienic. Only one shower worked, so guests had to queue to rinse off, and a large open drainage area sits beside the pool. There wasn’t an extension or contact number in the room, and after 9:00 PM no staff were available to help. We felt abandoned at night. Parking was also poor, with too little space and nobody around to guide us. The hotel looks nothing like its Google pictures, which felt misleading and disappointing. We wouldn’t give it even one star. The service was extremely poor, and we were highly disappointed. I’ve attached my bill as proof we stayed. Management needs to take serious steps to fix these issues.

The staff were amazing and especially welcoming, and the receptionist was polite and wonderful. The breakfast was tasty, too. The location, room, pool, and environment were all excellent for the price. I recommend staying here with family or friends.

The friendly staff and cozy atmosphere made for a really relaxing visit. Our room was welcoming, clean, and comfortable. Dinner was delicious, and breakfast had a great selection that set us up well for the day.
