The pool was good, but seeing animals drink from the water was unhygienic and concerning. Getting there on foot wasn’t comfortable either: the entrance road was badly damaged, with lots of street dogs along it, and felt unsafe to walk. The room was just okay, but basic items were missing: no bottled water, kettle, tea cups, tea bags, or towels. We had to ask for each thing separately. The washroom fittings, including the taps and shower, were old, damaged, and poorly maintained. The entrance door had visible cracks and holes, which raised safety and upkeep concerns. With the maintenance issues, missing basics, and hygiene and safety concerns, I can’t recommend this place.

The owner was extremely kind and helpful, and the large, beautiful pool was a highlight. The beach was just a one-minute walk away, and having laundry available was useful. I had a very positive stay overall. The rooms were basic and the bathrooms were low standard, though clean and functional. I wouldn’t recommend the English breakfast. Still, it was a comfortable, enjoyable place for a relaxed holiday.

The rooms were okay, but far too expensive for what you get. We changed rooms and still had the same problem: the shower drains didn’t work, so the water stayed there for days. The manager acted as though he didn’t know this was happening in any of the rooms.

At The Reef Resort, the quiet, peaceful atmosphere made it easy to relax and take a proper break. My room was spacious, comfortable, and clean, with a lovely view to wake up to. The beach nearby was beautiful, and I won’t forget the sunsets. The staff were warm and always ready to help, which made me feel welcome. It’s a quiet spot but still close enough to explore Trincomalee. They can also help arrange tours, including a Trincomalee City Tour. It felt like a hidden gem, and I’d happily return and recommend it.

The hospitality really stood out. The staff were friendly, helpful, and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The whole property was clean and peaceful, and our room was comfortable and well maintained. The Reef Resort has a beautiful beachfront location in Nilaveli, Trincomalee. It’s a calm, scenic place for a memorable getaway on Sri Lanka’s East Coast. We had an amazing stay and will definitely be back.
