The rooms at The Essence Hotel, Nuwara Eliya were so clean and comfortable, and the interior felt cozy and beautifully put together. Everyone was kind and helpful, too. We had a wonderful stay and were really impressed, especially since we haven't found anywhere like it in Nuwara Eliya before. We'd happily return and recommend it.

The setting is lovely and has a lot of potential, but the service left us very disappointed. We came on 28th February at around 9 PM with all the ingredients for cooking. The chef and staff made the food their way instead of following our instructions, so it had very little taste and most of our group couldn't enjoy it. After 11 PM they wouldn't prepare anything else and said we couldn't use the kitchen. They left the food and went to sleep. The next morning, even though we supplied everything needed, they refused to make tea. The owner apologized for the inconvenience, but service didn't improve. We felt the staff showed little customer care or respect. The place itself is lovely, but based on this experience I wouldn't recommend it. Service needs significant improvement.

The rooms were outstanding, with electric warming beds, and we had a great stay. The host was incredibly helpful, arranging our train tickets and even driving us to the station. It's an amazing place, very close to the train station.
