The location was the highlight for us, and the rooms were clean. Madura is a gem, and every staff member was welcoming and helpful with our needs. The restaurant food is tasty, and I definitely recommend trying the smoothie bowl. It's very budget friendly too. The hostel is a little way from central Galle, but buses run frequently right outside. One of the best hostels we've stayed at, and we'd highly recommend it for the views.

The food made a strong impression: the seafood pasta was perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and nicely presented, while the chocolate milkshake was creamy, refreshing, and delicious. The staff were attentive and friendly, too. Backpack Beach Hostel & Reggae Bar has a relaxed, lively beachside feel and a peaceful atmosphere with stunning sea views. Since its recent reopening, the restaurant's architecture and decor look impressive, modern but still cozy and suited to the beach. A great spot in Galle for food, music, and a beachfront setting.

I booked two nights at Backpack Beach Hostel & Reggae Bar and stayed five. The people and the relaxed feel made it hard to leave. From arrival, the hospitality was warm and welcoming, and the staff made me feel at home. The sunsets were a favorite part of each day. The sky looks incredible from the beach or the bar, and the hostel has a lovely beach atmosphere. The rooms were surprisingly clean, comfortable, and well kept, just right for unwinding after a day in the sun. Food was fresh and tasty, and the reggae bar had good music and a fun energy at night while staying laid back during the day. If you're after good people, good food, and a great beachside vibe, this is the spot. I'd recommend it, and book extra nights because you may not want to leave either!

We really liked the team, who were talkative and funny, and the prices were awesome. Food and drinks were very nice, though service could take a little longer sometimes. The beach was nearly empty, so it was easy to relax wherever you wanted, and the atmosphere was nice. I stayed at Reggae Hostel for two nights and don't regret it. My room was okay, and I slept on the top bunk. Part of the roof was coming off and landed on my bed, so sleep with your head at the other end. It's about 10 kilometers from Galle, but buses and tuk-tuks are easy to catch. I'd definitely come again.
