The Palmyrah House

The pool was my favorite spot, with its infinity-style edge looking out over the natural lake. It made for a really calm, relaxing place to unwind. There’s greenery and wildlife all around, lots of different birds, and a lovely quiet atmosphere, so it’s a good escape from the city. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the food was fresh and very good, especially the seafood. Some parts of the pool need maintenance, and the garden and path lighting could be better. Still, the natural setting and peaceful feel made up for those issues. If you like scenery, nature, and quiet, it’s worth a visit.

We spent the night here with our parents. The venue was peaceful, and it seems like one of the best places to stay when heading to Mannar. The staff were so friendly and ready to go the extra mile. Kudos to the manager and the three staff members who were looking after everyone. The food was a real 10/10, though we ended up with far more than we could eat. I’d like to see the gym get a few weights and a new treadmill, but that wouldn’t stop us enjoying the place or watching the birds in the evening.

The suites were lovely and the architecture is distinctive. For a stay in the Mannar area, this is probably the best address. The country around here is well worth exploring, and I really hope management sorts out the pool soon. At the price they charge now, the condition is not appropriate. We were five adults and two small children, and the state of the pool shocked us. Its design is unusual, but it is so shallow the water only reached an adult's hips. The upkeep was very disappointing: some tiles were faded and others broken. Our son cut his knees while playing and swimming. Dust was floating on the surface and the water looked dirty, so we warned the kids to be very careful not to drink it. There were only two sunbeds and both were broken. The pool towels were old and poorly arranged, and the shower room beside the pool had no light. A pool in this condition in March 2026 clearly didn't deteriorate overnight. We booked directly with HB. Four of the five adults went to bed disappointed with the dinner's flavor and portion size.

The team at The Palmyrah House, Mannar, helped us even before we checked in. Our vehicle got stuck in the sand while we were travelling, and they quickly arranged help and made sure we were safe. They did it without hesitation and showed real concern. My heartfelt thanks to Mr. Janz, the Operations Manager, and his team for acting promptly and giving us calm, thoughtful support. That kindness set the tone for our stay. The Palmyrah House brings together comfort and simplicity in a way that feels like luxury eco-hospitality, and the people make the place even more special. Highly recommended.
