Taj Residence

The dirty bed sheets and lack of basic items like bottled drinking water or soap were disappointing. The rooms weren’t clean, mosquitoes were everywhere, and the bathrooms were unclean with a bad smell that made it uncomfortable. The staff didn’t seem friendly or attentive, and it felt like nobody cared about the guests. A very disappointing stay, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

The issue wasn’t the booking, but the way the receptionist communicated the message. When I visited with my family, we were treated like thieves. The person at reception didn’t know how to speak to us, and the manager’s phone was switched off, so we couldn’t get in touch. They even held our identity cards and other personal documents, something I’ve never experienced at five-star hotels. The business acted like it had a monopoly. It’s better not to choose this place. The customer service was too bad.

Out of the 18 places I’ve stayed in Sri Lanka, this is the only one where I’ve had a bad experience. I’m not usually one to complain or write a bad review, but someone had to. The old bed was grubby, and as I sat there trying to find the words, mosquitoes were all around me. The staff, if you can call them that, were rude, unwilling to help, and unhelpful. An absolute shambles. Please don’t even consider staying here.

The room itself was newly made and really pretty, and the hotel was fine. But we only got a strange woollen blanket. I didn’t find it very comfortable, a sheet would have been better. I also thought the bathroom was quite dirty.
