The staff are genuinely friendly and go out of their way to help, and there are some good places to eat nearby. But the bed wasn’t comfortable, the AC units seemed worn and were loud, and hot water was difficult to manage. ATMs are a long way off. There were very few guests, and check-in and checkout times were enforced strictly. It still seemed to be under renovation and not quite ready for guests. Nearby hotels were much fuller and had better options.

I went with three friends a few days ago and we got two double rooms. The rooms weren’t cleaned properly, and the water pressure in the bathroom was so low that after a few minutes the water stopped altogether. We told a hotel worker, and it came back about 15 minutes later, but there still wasn’t enough for a proper bath. The charges were high too. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

The hotel was being renovated while we were there, but my family and I still had a really good stay. It was within our budget and close to the airport, so getting there was easy. The kids loved having access to the pool, and the staff were lovely. They suggested some Sri Lankan food that was a little spicy but amazing, and even offered to go pick it up for us. Would definitely recommend!

Even with renovations going on, Mizuki Plaza Hotel in Kandana was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly, and the relaxed atmosphere made it a lovely, peaceful getaway.

After the renovation, they’ve done a good job. It’s handy for a transit stay, right on the main road with buses stopping beside the hotel. I’d highly recommend it to tourists.
