Omkara Rekawa

The pool and surroundings were beautiful, but the stay felt poor value for the money. I found a cockroach in the room, which felt like a sanitation problem to me, though a lizard indoors would have been fine. Our room was never cleaned, empty bottles and glasses were left behind, and it had no window or natural light, just very dim lighting. The place felt more like a public space than a proper hotel. Although it has four small private villas, anyone from outside can use the pool by buying one drink. The pool and restaurant are shared with visitors, but there are only seven sunbeds and four restaurant tables. Non-guests were constantly in the common areas, with strong smells of prohibited smoke, loud talking all day and into late evening. That went on all three nights, so there was no privacy or chance to relax. The reception manager was unfriendly and inflexible at check-in. After a long, hot trip from Mirissa, our Apple Pay payment wouldn't go through. We asked to check in and pay within an hour, once we topped up another card that we had with us, but got no understanding. We had to wait at reception before paying. It's frustrating that their payment system didn't accept Apple Pay. The manager was rude and told us to choose another hotel if we didn't like it. Did he think we wouldn't pay for a three-night stay? 😆 Two stars for the pool and the surroundings. I know what the hotel will say, so read the earlier one-star review and the official answer from Orkawa Rekawa, which absolutely confirms what I wrote is 100% true ;) If I'd seen that review and response before booking, I never would have stayed here.

The vibe and natural setting were perfect, and the hotel was so clean, cozy, and friendly. I had a great time there. The restaurant food was delicious, and everyone working there was kind and welcoming. I loved Omkara hotel 💗🌱

We watched a wild turtle nesting with the Turtle Conservation Watch Organisation just a few minutes' walk away, and Tangalle town was an easy tuk tuk ride through gorgeous scenery. We had a wonderful two-night stay at Omkara Rekawa Villas and Restaurant. The private villas felt luxurious, the pool was pure heaven, and Sujith and the team took great care of us. Sujith is an amazing chef. His food was incredible and well priced, from breakfast, especially the Sri Lankan breakfast, to seafood dinners with lobster, tuna, and prawns. Thanks to Sujith and the team for such good hospitality.

I really enjoyed my stay at Omkara hotel. Everything felt special, from the nice surroundings and kind staff to the management. I'll remember the delicious local food and fresh juice, too. Everything was so clean, including the bed, mattress, and sheets, just brilliant ✨ The poolside, restaurant, and lobby service were great. The property felt protected, with security around all day and night. The lagoon beside the hotel and its romantic decoration helped wash away my negative vibes. I came away feeling refreshed.
