Thathsara Holiday Inn

We were so grateful to Rohana and his family for taking us in after another hostel had overbooked. They were incredibly kind and made us feel looked after, with delicious breakfasts included and laundry at a good price. Rohana also arranged transport to Dambulla cave temple and set up an amazing elephant safari. Such warm hosts, I’d recommend them to anyone visiting Sigiriya!

Great value and a wonderful host. The rooms were clean and spacious, the hospitality was lovely, and breakfast was incredible. WiFi came and went, though that’s expected in rural Sri Lanka. Thanks for such a great introduction to the country ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We showed up on the night we planned to stay, and the room was ready straight away. The host was helpful throughout and made us feel at home. We ate at the attached restaurant first, and the food was delicious. Breakfast was very good too. We had a TukTuk, but chose to walk through the countryside to Lions Rock and Pidurangala, about 30 minutes away. A great stay, and I’d come back if I’m ever in Sirigiya.

The ground-floor room opened onto a jungle terrace, and the stay felt memorable, right in the jungle in the center of Sri Lanka. Rohana, the hotel owner, helped us get to know the area and local life. He shared stories, checked in about how our day went, gave advice, and arranged a good-value taxi through the neighbors. His excellent national breakfasts were a treat. We had two different ones, each with six local dishes on the table, including fresh-squeezed juice, coconut-honey pancakes, samosas, spring rolls with local filling, omelette, egg pie, and fruit. His son has a cafe within walking distance where you can get dinner.
