This is a truly lovely guesthouse, and we had an incredible stay. It's run by a family whose parents both work full-time, so occasionally you might wait a little for someone to check you in. Usually someone is there, though, and if not, it's safe to leave your bags while you go to the beach or walk around town. I saw a recent one-star review over this, which I found really unfair to such a kind, hard-working family. The rooms are clean, the price is great and the location is excellent. Hot water may not always be available, and the town sometimes has power cuts, but those things aren't the family's fault. Please don't let the bad reviews put you off. They deserve kindness and support.

After eight months of travelling around Asia, this is easily the best accommodation we've stayed in so far. The family who own Jungle Guest House are the loveliest people, and I really can't recommend the place enough. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a balcony looking out over the jungle. Sitting there with a drink and watching monkeys play in the trees in the evening was a highlight. It's not a five-star hotel, but for a truly authentic Sri Lankan experience, Jungle Guest House is hands down the best place.

The staff were so thoughtful and kind. After checkout, we wanted to swim, and they let us use another room to shower before leaving. The way they treated us was amazing, and the value for money is really good. I'd recommend this place to anyone staying in Mirissa.

Clean, spacious and comfortable rooms, with a lovely balcony where we could watch monkeys. The guesthouse is close to the beach and surrounded by wildlife. Most of all, the family made our stay truly special with how kind they were. Jungle Guest House, we'll miss you ❤️

The location is genuinely good and the price looked appealing, but I really can't recommend staying here. I arrived sick and just wanted a hot shower, a blanket and a bed so I could recover. There was no hot water at all, not even warm, so I left to look for somewhere else while feeling completely ill. A child checked me in and handed over the key and WiFi password. There was no owner to speak with, even about payment, only children and an elderly woman who didn't speak English. What a disappointment. At least the host cancelled my booking without charging me, after I had spent three hours waiting.
