Simple Place

They have two guest rooms, and the place is mainly for tour guides. On some days you may also see a turtle release, since there’s a hatchery.

A good place to stay, with a beautiful beach.

The owners are lovely and helpful with anything you need, including activity recommendations. It’s a small, simple family-run hotel at an affordable price. My room was nice, with AC and a pretty bed. The beach is right outside, with an amazing view. There’s a cute garden, and the beach area has sunbeds, chairs, a hammock, a swing, and a barbecue spot.

The hosts, Nalin and Chamila, and their adorable children made this feel more like visiting friends than a usual host-guest stay. They helped with all our questions and needs, Nalin showed us around, and their children lent toys to ours. They also regularly offered fresh coconuts. We’re grateful to this warm family for an unforgettable holiday at beautiful Simple Place, and hope to see them again soon. Our ground-floor apartment had huge, comfortable king-size beds, a spacious modern bathroom, and softly warm lamps that could be dimmed for a cozy feel, something I don’t often see in Sri Lanka. There was no kitchen, but it had everything else we needed day to day. The outdoor space was beautifully and lovingly arranged, with atmospheric lighting in the evening, and the beach was practically outside the door. It was a bit rough for swimming while we were there, but lovely to look at, and the sound of the sea was wonderful. Simple Place is also well situated, just a few minutes by tuk tuk from Mirissa or Matara.
