The string hoppers with lentil Daal curry were delicious, and the food was well priced and prepared quickly. We ate at AA Inn Restaurant both mornings of our stay in Uppuvelli because the food and service were great. I'd definitely recommend it!

We got rooms at short notice and were even upgraded without paying extra. The staff were friendly and very accommodating, and the atmosphere was relaxed. The location is nice, just a short walk from the beach. I'd happily stay here again.

Check-in was a mess. Nobody was there, so we waited 30 minutes for someone to arrive. They handed over the keys without giving us any information, then left. The next morning, just as we were heading out for the day, we were told they'd made a mistake and we had to change rooms. We'd already unpacked and settled in. There was no real apology or offer of a solution. At checkout, we were charged 312,000 rupees instead of 31,200. It was eventually sorted out, but first he accused me of adding the extra '0'. He also said we shouldn't have paid by card because this had happened before, even though he had asked whether we wanted to pay by card or cash. After an hour of waiting, the only solution was a cash refund. We still paid full price for the room, with no compensation. The location is good, but there are plenty of better options for the service and cost. The room was nothing special, and there was no shower gel. They said, 'we don't offer that here.'

We booked a room through an OTA, but when we arrived the hotel said there were no rooms available and asked us to cancel through the platform ourselves. It seemed like they had overbooked, and this appeared to be common practice. We pointed out that cancelling on the same day would still mean we had to pay for the room through the OTA. They then contacted a nearby inn to find us somewhere to stay, but the room they arranged was lower in standard and price than the one we'd paid for.
