splendid lake view safari lodge

We had a quiet, authentic stay at Splendid Lake View Lodge, and the location is beautiful. In the morning there were birds and animals around the lake, and we had breakfast on the floating platform. We could swim or kayak to see the birds on the water, and even spotted a varan in the lake. A farmer came by with his troup of water buffels on the opposite shore. At night, light bugs came to the window and lit up the outside. The hospitality was wonderful too. Our host made us a great curry, and we were given takeaway lunch and breakfast during our safari and visit to Sinharaja rainforest. Samanthe has a jeep and organises safari's. We went for seven hours, saw many elephants up close with no other jeeps around us, and stopped for lunch by a lake. On checkout day we went to Sinharaja forest. It's a 2.5-hour drive, which we hadn't realized until we got into the car at 5:30 AM, but it was definitely worth it. We took our bags along, and Samanthe dropped us at the bus station in Embilipitya so we could catch a bus down to the coast. Thanks for having us. You can also just book the safari with Samanthe, which is a must!

I couldn't stay overnight because they were fully booked, but I got to spend some time at this beautiful, peaceful place today. The kind owners let me kayak on the small lake and go for a swim. I can't comment on the rooms, except that some have lake views. I can recommend this place ❤️

The lake beside the accommodation was the best part. After a long day on safari, you can jump in and cool off. The rooms were decent and clean. Such an underrated experience!

We had a really good time here. The lake is swimmable, and the breakfast and dinner were delicious and not spicy. They were helpful whenever we had a question. Thanks for letting us stay at your place.
