Walawa Cottage and Family Villa

A very quiet, safe, beautiful place. It's a small, fairly new family run hotel, so there weren't many ants or other 'neighbors'. My room was clean, and the bathroom was spacious. The owner is a friendly, service-oriented young man, and the price is reasonable. They can serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I tried about eight different 'Rice and curry' meals, and theirs was the first that was REALLY NOT SPICY, which mattered a lot to my wife. Their breakfast also had more dishes and larger portions than at other places. If you're traveling as a couple, just order one portion, it'll be more than enough for two.

The owner was the kindest person we met in Sri Lanka, and I felt I could trust him completely. Breakfast was included and really nice, and you can pay for a delicious Sri Lankan home-cooked dinner too. Our room had two beds and a shower that worked well. Even sharing a wall with another room, we couldn't hear a thing. You can also arrange a safari through him, which made things easy. Highly recommend!

We got great value for the money here. The host was very friendly, and the rooms were clean, spacious and pleasant. The traditional Sri Lankan meals, including breakfast, lunch and dinner, were delicious. They also work with an experienced, enthusiastic safari guide who knows good places to spot leopards and large crocodiles, as well as elephants. Ask for guide Mr. Era ;)

Duminda was there to help us from the beginning right through to the end of our stay, and made us feel so welcome. The Cottage was tidy and clean, and its location worked perfectly for visiting Udawalawa national park. We had a wonderful time and would happily recommend it. Andrew and Family.
