The shared space was relaxed and the owners were nice, but the room itself was really poor. We had to request towels and toilet paper, and the mattress looked so grimy we hated sleeping on it. The mosquito net they gave us after we asked was too short for a double bed. They didn’t charge us for food or drinks after we complained, but that didn’t make the room any better. If you’re into a rough backpacker or hippy kind of stay, you might like it. I wouldn’t recommend it otherwise.

We had a great time here. It’s surrounded by jungle, and the beaches and some of the best surf spots are within walking distance. The owner and staff are so friendly and welcoming, and breakfast is included. The Sri Lankan food was the best I’ve had so far. It’s also a lovely place to meet other travelers and enjoy yourself. Highly recommend!

Camp Kush is a special find when you’re backpacking. Monkeys climb overhead while everyone hangs out and socializes, and like plenty of people, I stayed longer than I’d planned. Some guests also stay on to work. It’s a long walk to the beach, there’s no hot water, and no lockers, but that’s the jungle for you. Go, you won’t regret it.

The teepees are fine to sleep in, and using the outdoor showers is fun. The owner is a really friendly, helpful guy who makes incredibly tasty food and, I mean it, the best coffee in the world. The place has a different feel, in a good way. Definitely worth a visit!

This felt like home and family to me. Everyone shares what they have and treats you like one of their own. I’ve never stayed in a hostel with such a good vibe. The most laid-back place I found in all of Sri Lanka. Thank you!
