Laya Beach

We were a group of 30, and I was the tour leader. During our stay on 13-4-26, we didn't have a single issue. The food was amazingly good, the rooms were kept clean, and the service staff were excellent. The whole team at Laya beach resort was well trained and humble. Miss kaveesha at reception was always smiling and helpful to our group. Ms Nethmi and Manager Ms Achini also deserve credit, as does restaurant supervisor Ms Kusum for her effort. The male staff Mr Saranga and Anuhas were among the best.

The pool was clean, and it is a beach property, but the in-house restaurant made for a very bad experience. Breakfast was the same on all three days, with very few vegetarian options. On the second evening, the dry pasta had no vegetables and no taste. On the third, I asked for a hopper with rusty potato and got parathas with liyanaise potato instead, which shocked me because I hadn't asked for that. Assistant Manager Jonathan didn't know how to speak to a guest about what I'd gone through on days two and three. His attitude as a hotel industry assistant manager really sucked. They refused my request for a food refund. I attached photos with my review. I'd suggest avoiding the MAP package here. Choose a room package only if you're fine with the same breakfast every day.

We came to Laya Beach Resort for coffee and ended up staying two weeks. The room was spacious and very comfortable, with a large bed, fresh linen, good hot water, a balcony, and a seating area that worked well for relaxing and working. Reception and housekeeping were consistently helpful and smiling. The resort backs straight onto a beautiful beach, with easy access and incredible sunsets. The grounds are extensive and well cared for. The pool was immaculate, and staff greeted us each morning with a smile and reserved our sunbeds without being asked. Pool service was excellent and reasonably priced. Food was a real highlight, freshly prepared by Dubai-trained chefs and a skilled team serving both Sri Lankan and international dishes. We fell for Sri Lankan food here. Breakfast was available on our balcony or as a generous buffet. Thanks to ex-Chef Lasautha and his team, and to Kusum, the restaurant manager, whose warmth and attention made meals special. She even arranged fresh coconuts from the hotel grounds. Bar service was excellent too, with cold drinks and friendly help from Uditha Rathnayake and Pasidu, who tried to teach us some Sri Lankan. The resident musicians added to the atmosphere, and Manager Akrem, the chef, and the whole team made our final evening memorable with a beautifully arranged five-course banquet. We also recommend Rushi, the in-house travel guide, and the hotel drivers for well-organized, stress-free excursions. For the care, attention to detail, and fresh food, it feels like excellent value and deserves to be considered five-star. We can't recommend Laya Beach Resort highly enough and can't wait to return. 🌅

The buffet had a good variety, including several meat dishes, and there’s a cricket area, a pool, and the beach right next door. The staff deserve appreciation. They were quick and helpful when we were in a rush and got everything arranged for us. Thanks to Mr. Bandara and his colleague. ❤️
