The cafe food was so delicious and beautifully presented, some of the best meals I had in Sri Lanka. Layback Surf Camp made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived, and being locally owned really shows in the atmosphere and care they put into things. Linda, the manager, was incredibly kind and organized, always checking that everyone was happy and looked after. The volunteers Nicole, Okki, Lizzie, and Elena were so friendly and helpful, and made a real effort to include everyone, which built a great sense of community. The surf instructors were patient and encouraging with every level, and I felt supported in the water. The video analysis and theory lessons helped a lot too. The rooms were always cleaned, and they changed our towels as well. I’d recommend it in a heartbeat and would go back anytime. Loved it ❤️

I’ve already decided I’ll be back next season. This was my second stay at Layback Surf Camp in Sri Lanka, and it was just as good as the first. Right away I felt like part of the family. The cafe team are genuinely friendly and welcoming, and the good vibes are everywhere. The camp is beautifully and stylishly designed, and it’s such a pleasure to spend time there. I felt at home and relaxed straight away. The surf instructors know a lot and really care about helping you improve. They encourage you to push a little further while keeping it fun and supportive. The people are what make Layback special. It’s easy to make friends, especially when everyone stays for a week and improves together. From the start, the surf camp feels like a little community, with a relaxed, social and welcoming vibe, a real home away from home. Coaching is a highlight for beginners and more experienced surfers alike. The instructors are patient, knowledgeable and focused on helping you progress. Video analysis and theory sessions make a big difference. There’s also daily yoga, social dinners and optional activities, so there’s plenty to do without feeling overwhelmed. The rooms are clean and stylish, the common areas are chill, and there’s a rooftop cafe to hang out in after surfing. The whole place has a laid-back, aesthetic feel, right in the center of Weligama and just a few minutes from the beach.

Two surf sessions a day helped me improve quickly, and I felt more confident in the water every single day. I learned a lot during my week at Layback Surfcamp, made new friends and memories I won’t forget. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. A huge thank you to Raash, Senu, Dasun, and Dilshan! They were patient, supportive and motivating, and made every session fun and empowering. Their guidance made a big difference. The whole team was warm and kind, and the camp felt like a little family. Linda, the Manager, was always there when needed and made sure everyone felt cared for. And the food was delicious, something I looked forward to every day. I left with so much gratitude, more confidence and lovely new connections. I’d recommend Layback from the bottom of my heart 🫶🏻
