Lucky Monkey Inn & Restaurant

The balcony sunsets were amazing, with sea views from our huge balcony and its sunbeds. The hotel is right by some of the best fish restaurants, and the modern rooms make it a great option for surfing or relaxing by the sea. This was the highest standard of hotel we experienced in Sri Lanka. We enjoyed the pool, food, location, views and staff, especially Dylan. Really great hotel and staff. Thank you! 🙏

The sea views and direct access to Weligama Beach make Lucky Monkey Inn & Restaurant a lovely place to relax or surf. It’s also close to Mirissa Coconut Hill for a quick trip to enjoy the scenery, and there’s convenient street parking. Breakfast was freshly prepared and very tasty, with impressive food quality and flavors. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, making sure we felt comfortable and well looked after. A great beachfront choice in Weligama for food, service and location. Highly recommended!

We stayed in a sea-facing double room on the third floor, with a big terrace, two pool beds and amazing views of the sea, surfers and the island temple. The location is perfect, and the hotel is very clean, with very nice people and a very decent price. It’s along the busy beach road, though, so light sleepers should bring earplugs. Highly recommended.

If you’re in Weligama for surf lessons and want to stay away from the party zone, Lucky Monkey could work, though bring earplugs and a sleep mask. The corridor is open and security lights shine into the room, and the coastal highway right outside is busy, noisy and full of diesel fumes. The staff are lovely, and the rooms are clean and comfortable, with working AC and hot water. It’s on a quieter stretch in terms of other tourists, but it isn’t peaceful. The private beach sits between the road, a waste stream and fishing boats. Sea breezes can help with the smells, but when the wind shifts they’re hard to escape. We even swam among garbage and went to Mirissa for cleaner water. I felt a bit duped by the glowing reviews. If you’re after a relaxing beach holiday, this isn’t the place.
