Padmi Villa

Padmi looked after everything we needed, and I really recommend staying here and supporting small businesses in Weligama. This was my favorite place to stay in Weligama. The location is good, and there are 2 big, clean rooms with private showers and ac, plus a kitchen, living room, and large terrace.

A roomy, homely place to stay.

We had a long, lovely, restful stay here, and the villa worked well for us as surfers visiting Weligama over the years. The neighborhood felt quiet and comfortable. We had the second floor and veranda to ourselves while the hosts lived downstairs. The hosts are courteous and pleasant, and we could buy water from them. When repair workers came, we left our money and valuables with the hosts for safekeeping, and everything was fine. They lock the gates and ask when we'll be back in the evening, so this is better suited to a quiet family holiday than parties for young people. The ocean is a five-minute walk, with several cafes nearby. More of them open as the season gets busier. The villa is on the main street but far enough from the center that we avoided the loudspeakers on lampposts. Some days, though, sermons could be heard around the clock. Sound carries through the ventilation gaps under the roof, and I wish those were properly covered with mosquito netting. The bedrooms' air conditioners worked, and there was a fan in the common room. There are security cameras around the house and the wifi is fast. We chose a villa with a kitchen so we could cook in the evenings during low season, when not every restaurant was open. We needed a small gas stove for proper cooking and a few small kitchen items, which we easily bought at a shop. The bedrooms could use more storage for clothes and belongings, a couple of extra nightstands, and brighter lights. That's common in Sri Lanka, though, and the same everywhere. Cleaning was the main drawback. We only had a floor brush, and without a vacuum it was hard to clear the floor debris. There were too many cobwebs, and the kitchen was dusty when we arrived. It might help to hire cleaning help and get more reliable outlet adapters.
