Sun Set Sea Family House

I loved staying with Rathnasiri Swarnalatha and their son Thisaru. They’re wonderful hosts and people, and living with a Sri Lankan family in a Weligama neighbourhood was a great experience. My room had a very comfortable bed, plenty of space and furniture, and a fan. Its window opened onto a garden full of trees and flowers, which was especially nice after travelling around Sri Lanka and Thailand. Breakfast is available, and Swarnalatha is a great cook. If you enjoy Sri Lankan curries, you’ll be happy here. There’s a shortcut to the beach that takes under five minutes on foot, and the ancient, 900-year-old Buddhist temple Agrabodhi is nearby. I recommend it to anyone looking for a lovely homeshare.

The family were very friendly and helpful during my stay. The place is tucked into quiet back streets, but Weligama centre, the train and bus stations, and the beach are all within walking distance. There are also a few cute restaurants and boutique shops nearby. Highly recommend.

It was a lovely stay with a very nice family, who were always welcoming and smiling. There was always someone at home, which made it feel very safe. You can also use some bicycles.

I stayed for a month and would highly recommend it. The host family are lovely, and the amenities are great. Having a kitchen made it easy to keep meal costs down, and meeting local families in the surrounding streets made the experience extra special. It’s a two-minute walk to the beach, with corner shops and cafés close by, including a couple of lounges and coworking spaces.
