The area is lovely and quieter than central Weligama, though the beach is still close, and you can rent a bicycle at the house to explore. I stayed two nights in December 2022. The room was comfortable, clean and looked like the photos, with a little extra luxury for just a few dollars. I only found dust on the desk and cupboards; elsewhere things were clean, and I didn't spot any mould. The host spoke little English, but we managed to sort everything out. WiFi is available for an extra charge. There were a lot of dogs nearby that looked unwell, which made me sad. That's not the host's fault, but the family next door kept their dog tied up for much of the day and it whined a lot. I went over and asked them to let it loose. I don't understand why people think it's fine to keep dogs tied up all day. The Mansion is otherwise a really nice place to stay in Weligama.

I spent two months here and really enjoyed it. The house is surrounded by greenery in a quiet area, with rice fields, a beautiful Buddhist temple and plenty of peacocks and other birds nearby. A very sweet family runs the place, they're easy to communicate with and always try to help.

Really lovely house, with antique furniture and high ceilings.

It's a beautiful place facing a paddy field, but I don't think there's any service this season. There wasn't anyone on staff to help with anything.
