Villa 7 to 7

I loved my stay here. It’s between jungle beach and Weligama, and you can walk to either in about 20 minutes. There are also some good restaurants tucked away on the roads behind. The garden is peaceful and well kept, the rooms are comfortable and fresh, and there aren’t many mosquitoes around. If you want air conditioning, you can pay more for an AC room. The kitchen is shared, so don’t expect to have it all to yourself, and please clean up after yourself. It’s not the hosts’ job to tidy up after guests. Tuk tuks are easy to find, and there’s a bus stop nearby. I stayed about a month ago, but am writing now after seeing a very critical review that I feel was unfair. One last thing, don’t rent a bike without a license.

The garden is beautiful and lush, and the staff are welcoming and easy to talk to if you have questions. The villa itself is peaceful and lovely, close to the heart of Weligama. The rooms are huge, private, tidy, and feel luxurious, with clean linen and amenities, especially for the low price. It’s about a 15 minute walk to Weligama beach break and the shops. A perfect place for travelers who want some quiet while staying close to town.

I loved this place and would absolutely recommend it. The garden and palm trees are beautiful, and there’s no street noise, so it’s lovely for reading in the morning. You get a quiet, peaceful location while still being able to reach the much busier stretch of beach, and tuk tuks make getting around easy. It’s a few minutes’ walk to a spot for swimming, about 30 minutes to the better surf, and about 30 minutes to the grocery store. The beds are comfortable, WiFi is fast enough for streaming or video calls and reaches all the rooms and shared areas. It slows a bit in the evening when everyone’s back, but still works fine. They keep the place meticulously clean, so the bathroom and kitchen were actually enjoyable to use. The kitchen is modest, with a gas stove that seems to be either very hot or off, and the cookware isn’t especially nice, but it has what you need for basic meals. There were no bugs, the toilet paper was always stocked, and staff quickly sorted out any problems. The rooms have powerful fans, windows with good airflow, and great blackout curtains, so the lack of AC didn’t bother me. Best value stay in the whole country.

We loved our month here. Our room was bright and airy, very large, with a super king sized bed that was really comfortable. Room 4 was on the second floor, close to the kitchen, and had its own bathroom and air conditioning. Cleaning was by request and done to a high standard. The guest house is a little out of town, close enough to walk in but far enough away to escape the bustle. The owners do clean the kitchen, but guests use it, so it would be cleaner still if everyone washed up after themselves. The guys running the place are genuinely lovely and spend all day on chores, from caring for the garden to turning over rooms, so please clean up after yourselves. We can’t recommend it more, for either a short or long stay. The one downside was that the WiFi in the room was pretty terrible, and the 4G connection was too.
