Pilialaukis Trakai

We decided to leave without ordering. There were four tables and four waitresses, but after waiting 15 minutes for menus, we went and got them ourselves. The staff saw us, then we waited another 15 minutes for a waitress and no one came over. It felt like they simply didn't care. “Terrible” is too kind. I don't understand how they still exist.

The food was delicious, and the cozy, welcoming atmosphere made for a lovely meal at Pilialaukis. The staff greeted us warmly when we arrived and showed us to our table. They were friendly, knew the menu well, and were always ready to help. I had a great time and would definitely recommend Pilialaukis to anyone looking for a nice meal and a good time.

The soups were actually the best part of the meal, but the mains were cold and very greasy. We ordered two nonalcoholic beers, two soups, and two mains at the same time. The warm beers took 30 minutes, the soups came 20 minutes after that, and the mains another 30 minutes later, so the whole order took 1 hour and 20 minutes. The place itself is nice and the food was OK, but the service was tragically slow. There seemed to be too few waiters for the number of customers, and they looked visibly exhausted. I don't know how many people were in the kitchen, but it seemed there may not have been enough there either to keep up with orders. The waiters could at least have told us about the long delays so we could make an informed choice. Customers were unhappy, the staff seemed overworked, and poor management and communication appeared to be behind it. We were on a long-distance trip and had stopped to charge our car at the fast charging station right outside. Charging took almost four times as long as a full charge normally would, and we ended up considerably late.

There was a pretty big stage for playing music, and the place felt made for kids, with plenty of room to run around and play and two playgrounds. One of them opens pretty late. We were there for what was kind of a birthday party, with drinks for both kids and adults, and bottles of different kinds, like wine and beer bottles. The restaurant doesn't have a good location, though there are gates when you arrive. I also don't know when more than half the parking was given to driving instructors. It felt weird.
