The old architecture inside the room was a highlight for me, especially the frescoes and the stone and wood details. Our ground-floor bedroom was spacious, with one of us on the double bed and the other on the sofa bed. The bathroom was lovely, everything was clean, and the courtyard setting kept things quiet at night. A few guests were inconsiderate with doors and noise, but it settled down after hours. We slept well with the windows open a little, a breeze coming through, and rain outside. The style isn't especially modern, but the place was comfortable and full of Old City charm. We found it in guidebooks, including an older Rough Guide and, I think, a newer Lonely Planet for Eastern Europe. Getting there from the train station takes a bit of effort, so we came by bus and took a cheap taxi back for our early train. The location made up for it: gorgeous Gothic churches are nearby, it's just off a main food street, and the main plaza with the Cathedral, palace, and fortified hill is across the way. We could walk to the synagogue and the museum of occupation too. My check-in email got caught in spam, but I called over data using Skype credit and the manager answered, then talked me through the after-hours arrival. It was easy. We checked in formally the next day and arranged a taxi for departure. The manager was friendly, and I appreciated her answers to our general questions about local culture. We skipped breakfast because it was served quite late, but found an excellent cafe breakfast down the street. I'd recommend staying here for a quiet, central base.
