Center Stay Hostel

I stayed here for six months, and honestly, I'm glad I left. It can seem fine at first: the cleaner and owner are friendly, and the kitchen has what you need. Over time, though, the downsides pile up. For a nightly stay, €20 feels steep when there are places for €9-12 that look better. Monthly rent is cheap, so those problems may matter more if you're paying by the night. Payment is cash only. The kitchen gets closed for cleaning every morning, but the time changes from day to day, so you never know when it'll happen. There were also a lot of odd people around, with drinking, noise, and theft. My phone was stolen after I left it in a room, where some strange man had been allowed to spend the night. The owner and cleaner seemed okay at first, but could start shouting, slamming doors, and arguing over things that didn't seem serious, especially cleaning. They seemed fixated on it. Once I was told off just for leaving a mop in the hall. I wouldn't recommend spending time here.

The receptionist was kind and helpful, at least. The room costs little, so don't go in expecting much. The bathroom was quite dirty, and there was no hand soap. The hosts had no liquid soap to refill the empty dispensers either. Sound carries badly through the place, you can hear even small noises from the shared area. It also seems to attract a lot of loud, drunk guests.

For a cheap hostel, it was comfortable and pretty decent. The location worked really well: five minutes on foot to the old town and ten to the bus station. The receptionist was very sweet and helpful; maybe it helped that I spoke Russian with her. Cleaning and comfort were average, which seemed fair for the price. Thanks for everything.

The bathrooms were clean and worked well, and the hostel is in a great central spot. The bedrooms felt cramped for 12 people. Staff could be friendlier, and less drunk.
