Guoda Apartments

The location is handy, but getting luggage inside is awkward because access is gated. There’s no elevator, and you have to haul your bags up a very crooked staircase. Those stairs are dangerous, with several places where you could trip.

It’s well placed, close to almost everything, and the room was fine for a weekend. The service was okay, though nothing special. From outside, the buildings look unattractive and don’t make a good first impression, but indoors things are acceptable. A three-star stay for me.

The rooms are spacious and very clean, and the apartment is right in the centre, so you can get around on foot. There’s a market and a cafe nearby. My one gripe: charging 10 € for a towel because it was too dirty doesn’t seem okay.

The location is great, and the host was friendly and reachable by phone. Even with our late arrival, we were able to leave our bags, though they had to go under the stairs to another apartment rather than in our own. The room we got didn’t match the booking photos, and I’ve added pictures of the actual one. Check-in only started at 3 PM, while checkout was 10:30 AM. Wi-Fi in the room didn’t work at all. I had to wander around the courtyard to find a signal, and even there it was laggy and only about 20% strength. Hot water took a couple of minutes to warm up, and never got properly hot. There was a small electric oven, but no microwave. For this level of service, the price felt unreasonably high, especially after what I expected from the reviews and photos. The old town is small enough that the location doesn’t make a huge difference to getting around on foot.
