Homestay Roja

We went back to Booking to laugh at the hostess's replies to negative reviews, but the old property had disappeared. It was called HOMESTAY ROJA, and had 1000 bad reviews, all of which were true, according to us: the linen wasn't washed, and neither were the floors or surfaces. A new listing, HOMESTAY AURORA, has now appeared. Be careful, it's the same basement dump.

We paid 40 bucks and were taken to a basement with a dirty, unwashed floor, filthy bedding and a centimeter of dust on the cabinets. There were also odd, closed doors that led nowhere. We suspect the residents might be monitored that way, though we can't say for sure. It felt gloomy and uncomfortable falling asleep that night. In the morning we washed up and continued on our way. There is a fridge, kettle and microwave. For now, I'd only stay here if money were so tight that I had to save every euro.

The room itself was lovely and cozy, but it was very cold, and we had to sleep under two thick blankets to keep from freezing. It was so dirty that it seemed like no cleaning was done at all, and the linen didn't even smell freshly washed. They asked us not to turn the lights on too often, even though I'd paid for the room and should be able to use the lights as much as I want. Maybe rising electricity costs are behind it. I just wish they'd clean the place properly.

Payment was cash only, but that wasn't mentioned anywhere and nobody warned me. The owner was horrible, and the way she spoke to me was full of reproaches. Simply disgusting.
