Vilnius Private Stay

I spent seven nights in the junior apartment, so I can’t speak for the other types. It was clean and close to a bus stop, but I ran into quite a few problems. For $444 USD, I expected better value. My stays in Riga and Tallinn cost about the same and had apartments at least twice as large, in central locations, without these issues. I’d look for somewhere else. The setup made it hard to get away from smells and noise. The kitchen sink sometimes smelled like urine at night, and since there’s no door between the kitchen and bedroom, it carried through the apartment. It didn’t happen every night, but seemed worse before rain. At night I could also smell the bathroom drain. The bathroom was clean, but extremely small, and a larger person could have trouble moving around in it. It’s right next to the bed, too. The pillows and blankets smelled, though the towels and bed linen were okay. My ground-floor unit had no shared buffer area such as a stairwell, porch, or vestibule. Smoke from cigarettes and bugs could get in easily, and local people sometimes sat smoking right in front of my door. There wasn’t much privacy either. From the bedroom window, other people’s stairs and porch were in view. Closing the window blocked that view, but summer was very warm, and there was no air conditioner or electric fan, so I had to leave it open. There was a large construction site for the white museum right beside the apartment, which could be dusty and noisy during the day. A public park is nearby. I know Vilnius is a very safe city and this isn’t a common thing, but one Thursday at 4 PM, drunken older and younger people blocked my way there and tried to aggress me in English. If you’re alone or don’t look local, avoid crossing the park. The price was higher than a normal Airbnb room, but it was managed like one: no reception, and replies weren’t very quick. There was nowhere to store luggage before check-in or after check-out, no spare room if you asked to switch, and no cleaning service during the stay.

The apartment is modern, clean, and in a very convenient spot. It’s on the ground floor and has no air conditioning, but sleeping with the windows open was quite comfortable.

Everything was very clean and up to a high standard, and the location made a long weekend easy. Nearly everything was a short walk away. There’s a small kitchen area that worked well for breakfast or a morning coffee.

Stylish, tidy, and compact, right in the center. It could use a few more amenities if you’re staying longer.
