Key Inn Apart Hotels Parc de Merl

The room was fairly spacious and relatively clean, but the street noise at night made it hard to sleep. There was also a €2 charge if you needed extra toilet paper. I stayed two nights and chose the place because I wanted breakfast and parking. All spaces were already booked, but the staff told me street parking was available, and that worked fine. Breakfast was disappointing: four slices of toast with a small cup each of butter and jam, plus a children's carton of apple juice and one coffee capsule. It wasn’t a bad place, but I expected a bit more.

There’s a bus station and a park nearby, which were both convenient. The apartment had two major problems for me. First, instead of just sending the entrance code by email, they made me go to another location about 1 km away to pick up a piece of paper with it. It was a very cold night, and I got completely frozen along with my suitcase. Second, my company laptop wouldn’t connect to the room’s unsecured Wi-Fi. It showed that the router was old or using an outdated security standard, so I couldn’t work in the room during my entire stay.

The view on waking up across from Parc de Merl was incredible, and the Key-Inn was great value, super clean, and well placed for walking or taking the bus to the city center. Buses are free throughout the country. There’s no reception, but the staff respond quickly and are easy to reach. Breakfast costs €2.50, which isn’t bad by Luxembourg standards. We had a fantastic weekend and will definitely come back.

The hostess was initially unhelpful when I raised the awful smell. She blamed the weather and said housekeeping could handle it, then after some back and forth told me to contact Booking.com for a refund. I had to reach out to Booking.com myself. She later agreed to refund the second night, but wouldn’t meet me halfway on the first, even though the smell ruined that night and we couldn’t sleep in the apartment. The odor hit as soon as I walked in, like a bathroom that had been left with a foul mess for weeks. It was unbearable. The interior was worn and old, badly in need of refurbishment, and felt like basic cleaning and maintenance had been ignored. This apartment was a nightmare, and I’d never recommend it. Stay far away.
